About (the publication of) tenders

A tender is a document which specifies the need for the purchase of goods, services and works by a relevant buying organisation.

In other words: an organisation announces publicly that it wants to purchase something with the goal of receiving offers.

It depends on each individual country: while there are countries where 100 % of public tenders are published on one (governmental) platform (e.g. Chile), there are others like Spain or Czech Republic with approx. 10,000 different sources. In average, however, we monitor 3,000 sources every day per country where we have local offices.

A common publication situation includes one platform of the federal government, regional platforms or newspapers as well as a big number of websites of public entities, utility companies, universities, hospitals etc.

Tenders above the EU threshold are published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).

If public tenders are of high importance to your business, a professional tender information service is a must-have. It will bring you many tender opportunities that you wouldn’t find yourself – at a fraction of the cost for researching. However, make sure that your preferred service focuses on local / national tenders and not only on OJEU tenders!

If you are tendering only once in a while, depending on your time or the season of the year, or if you are informed by some relevant authorities about new tenders, you might live without a tender alert service. However, you will get a lot of insight into your industry and your competitors by using a service like ours which will help you when preparing a bid for a tender. Furthermore, you will learn how many interesting tenders there are available for you which helps you adjust your business strategy.

Please take a look at our downloads / further resources section. You can find how-to-guides, legal documents and more.
